Just a bit of rambling here, but, I remember reading a thread on reddit. Apparently, a guy was friends with Drew, and Drew had a different story for what the original plot for ME3 was. Guess what it had more of? References to Dark Energy. Literally, like, the Reapers apparently were going around getting rid of the shit because organics would cause it to come around and destroy ALL THE THINGS. Or something like that. And I forget the ends, but I think we all understand they'd probably be better than ME3's current ones. Also, we discussed the inferred Holocaust since the Mass Relays are going out, right?

Actually, the original plot was that an ancient species, much much older than the protheans, possibly hundreds of cycles older, found that dark matter was going to consume the galaxy and the only way to try to stop it was to turn themselves into the reapers in order to harvest sentients so that they could learn all about the species in order to try to find a way to stop it. Apparently the human reapers and the humans themselves would have provided a way to stop it due to humans unusual genetic diversity.

He was gone by ME2, when you think about it. He was a huge part of ME1, but by ME2, he'd been demoted to a lower position on the Plot-Making food chain. He was still there, and it's obvious a good number of his plans got through, but he was fired by ME3.

Creative differences sound like a possible reason, it happens to bands too.

Casey Hudson got an overinflated ego and wanted a writer who would bend to his every whim is what happened... Cause Drew still writes for TOR, which is a totally different team within Bioware. Ray is the GM of Bioware, Casey is the producer of Mass Effect.

And believe me when I say that it's always good to have someone who protests your ideas. Because if they don't, your story becomes lackluster.

Problem is, this ending change will come in DLC. *shivers*
Bioware is such a money launderer, as much as nobody wants to admit it they squeeze as much money out of you they can. I already spent $60 on the original game, and having to pay for a better ending is total BS. I'd rather pirate that shit cause honestly I resent having to pay more than I already did for a game ._.

Blame EA for that, everything they get their hands on gets destroyed from horrible deadlines, over monetization, and too much advertising. Lets face it, once EA acquired Bioware after ME1, Bioware games started to go down hill. The first signs were in DA2.

Word. Alpha nailed it.
EA is way past their prime. Last EA game I loved was NHL '99 for N64.
