So I tried to play FoC with RotC V4 about an hour ago, and it gave me this error message. I tried to play it vanilla, and it gave me the same message every time I tried. And FoC w/mods was working fine yesterday. So here's the error messages, in order, each time I click OK:





And then it asks me if I want to send an error report.

I researched DirectX SDK, and it turns out that it stands for Software Developement Kit. I didn't DL because I didn't want to spend that much time downloading almost half a gig on a hunch, and I wanted to see if anybody here knew what the heck was going on. So, any ideas? I would greatly appreciate any help.

You shouldn't have to install the entire SDK. Try uninstalling DirectX and reinstalling it (the Runtimes, not the SDK)

OK, that's what I thought. It's ridiculous to think I'd need the whole SDK. If this doesn't work, I'll just re-install FoC, though. It should work out. But should I install DirectX 9.0c, or the most recent version?

You should install 9.0c.. whatever the latest is up on Microsoft's downloads. They usually make several revisions with a month/year system, but its still just labelled as 9.0c
