Hello everyone,
I recently bought a new pc which came with windows vista 64bit. As soon as I installed him, I couldn't wait to play FoC (on the highest details). So I first installed EaW, and then I installed FoC but it won't start.
Weird enough, it's possible to play EaW on my PC.
I would be very, very happy if someone could give me more information on this..
Thank you!

Well, you're doing better than some people on the forum who do speak English, so good job. Anyway, I don't have a Vista machine yet myself, but I've heard of some people needing a patch to play FoC on Vista. I wuld recommend searching the internet with keywords like "eaw foc vista patch" or something like that. You should be able to find it.

Well vista's awful. May I recommend upgrading down (seriously), or getting a Virtual Machine of XP running on your system? I got a virtual machine of XP on mine (although I haven't figured out how to get Vista to surrender RAM its reserved but not using so the virtual machine can use it) I'm supposed to only be able to assign 0MB of ram, but I copied a settings file form my XP rig where I set the same Virtual PC settings to 128MB ram, anything higher and the Virtual PC won't start. I have 516 MB of ram on my vista machine.....why won't it let me assign at least half of that over to my virtual PC?! Its always using 50% of the ram when I'm running NOTHING at all, so I assume I should be able to assign the rest over the the virtual PC....stupid vista.

Get more RAM. 1 gig sticks aren't that expensive, and it'll do you some good. Plus you'll have more for your XP. That's what I'd do.

Hello,
I want to tank you for replying, but I got another question.
Could someone give me a usefull link to a no-cd patch of FOC?
I'm going to try something out, maybe it 'll work then..
Thank you guys!

I'd rather get a better processor for my XP rig. Its not the ram thing (got 2 gigs on my XP rig, and my computer *somehow* acknowledges a whopping 8GB of ram (even though its 32 bit and the rest is virtual memory) in task manager) as it is Vista not giving up memory it ISN'T using to my XP Virtual machine 256 is more than enough for basic XP usage. Not surprisingly, the virtual memory on my vista machine (which is capped at 3GB, surprise surprise, lower than my XP one) is ignored by my vista rig. I even tried "readyboost" with a 1 GB flash drive, then with 2 one GB flash drives. The rig just refused to acknowledge/utilize it. (the disk space on the flash drive WAS assigned/reserved. Vista just refused to use it. Like it does with the RAM that Vista reserves and doesn't use). ><
