Full Version: Suggestion regarding turrets on ship
Imperial Assault 2: Rise of the Empire > Imperial Assault 2 > IA2: Updates and Enhancements

First of all, hi to everyone, i am new here (not new to this community though)

Seeing the fact that bex is best rigger in community and surely can get turrets working without problems, could you guys try to put turrets on every ship that could have them - acclamator, providence, perphaps legacy (munificent and recusant doesn't seem to be suitable for them) ? I realize it would take alot of time and effort, but final effect would be stunning at least.

I could do that, but I would have to model them myself for most of them, but it can be done. Im not sure if this would lag in any way.. i've had quite a few venators in the field at once... and I dont think the turrets themselves were the cause of any lag..

Yeah, i also think that turrets don't take much more processing power than normal HPs.

As for modelling those, i believe that Acclamator, lucrehulk and providence uses almost same turret type - quad laser (sources: AOTC cross sections book, a sequence from TPM showing lucrehulk turret firing at N1s and some pic from ROTS showing quad laser on ship which i think to be providence). Modelling a decent turret of this kind wouldn't take more than a 2 hours.

BTW are you using multiple LOD models in IA2? (would do great for performance)

that would be the BEST MOD then biggrin.gif
(not that it isn't already)

Personally, I think that such a small, superficial increase in the graphics and turrets would be a waste of time compared to working out actual major issues and bugs.

Well its not the turret so much as it is:
editing the main model to allow the turrets to "blend in" and not feel like they were slapped on
Damage effects and smoke particles for all the models
a fast copy paste edit of all the turret code..
Ballancing.. etc..
