Well i aint gunna complain about it but the LAAT/ C would be very nice to have for transporting the at-te biggrin.gif

I have already started work on this a bit ago.. although there are some problems to getting this to work 100% mostly because I hate looking into code, and i would assume the fact that sometimes ground units dont come out the way they are supposed to.. it might make it look wrong.
Im working on a way that i think could make it look convincing.. so its being looked at...

You have my full trust tongue.gif

I'd have to say that this is probably unnecessary to gameplay, and shouldn't be incorporated unless you really have the time...I mean...in EaW, AT-ATs come out of a transport smaller than they are...out of that transport's SIDE. Don't worry about LAAT/c, we're used to horribly transported units by now, and there are better things to do.
Jango Fett
Is it just going to be for landing at-te's or is it going to be an actual controllable unit? If it is going to be an actual unit, would it be able to transport other units? (like in The Clone Wars game, it carried other units). I think that'd offer some interesting strategic gameplay elements... smile.gif Probably complicated to pull off though, at least with the time remaining...
SOF
thats what i meant too. i know your right about eaw moderatly messing up on transport but since these guys are doing everything they lacked at it would be nice so we can get those at-te's that go about 2 mph at high speeds and across the battle field quickly
DarthByron
well if its going to be used for both landing at te and troops thats going to take a lot of animation and coding to do .

And the question is would it be worth the time and effort? unsure.gif
DarthByron
yes it would the game will be more exciting and it wuld make it more tactical than the units being landed by a lambard shuttle, that is just boring, using the laat/c would be briliant to land the at-te
Turbolaser
I agree. It would be pointless to make it an actual unit, as having a fast moving AT-TE almost makes it an invincible unit. Plus in 'reality', it would probably be shot down if you used it to ferry tanks all over the battlefeild.

It would be a good lander for the AT-TE, different from the normal lander, like the 'Barge' in EAW for the AT-AT.

I disagree. Actually, doing including it as a unit balances it perfectly. You can get an at-te around the battlefield quickly at the expense of of not being able to fire, essentially becoming an easy target. Speed vs firepower and armor; if the LAAT/c gets shot down, you would naturally lose both. And as the walker is being unloaded, it is an even bigger target because it's on the ground but can't fire. Not smart to land at-te's near hailfire droids, as we all know.

Details, people! A lot of the things in this mod aren't absolutely necessary, as is this, yet they're there and they're what will make this mod rock. One example is rotating turrets; not vital but it's still a sweet detail. Speaking of which, do turrets actually aim in the general direction or just rotate? (haven't seen them in FoC, computer is too crappy. at least till I get my SLI aurora m9700)

I think it might make the mod look more professional. It would be cool for them to do something that Petroglyph didn't even do!! smile.gif

turrets turn and aim to within 10 degrees although we can make it down to 1 degree if needed.. I still have not tried 1 degree.... Might make targeting a little higher
Basically it can turn left and right 180 degrees.. *about*
and up and down 45 degrees *45 up and 45 down I think I gotta check that*

------------------------------------------
oh and if you can build your own computer.. If it doesnt come out cheaper.. It will come out more powerfull
You would be surprised how far $1200 can take you *took me far enough to afford 2gb ram, x1950xt x-fi xtrememusic Tv tuner kick ass case Dual core proc PSU and all that other good stuff.. Heck i even got a UV light*.. back in january..
I still have my area 51m from them .. *got it in 2003..* great machine.. still runs fine.. but desktops .. I dont see any other option.
Just a thought..
DarthByron
Yes that would be amazing with turrets on the side which fire long laser beams and also the little gun in the back of the ship but it would take time to make.
swgbex
Rigging those turrets in wouldnt take any longer than any other unit with turrets to rig.. The particle effect would take a half hour to an hour depending If i knew what i wanted it to look like. Its the actual dropping of the AT TE animation that should take time...

Wow, that's pretty sweet for just $1200. Maybe I should do that...the bitch is that it's gotta be a laptop (must be portable). I'm planning on the alienware aurora m9700 with SLI or the new Area-51 m9750 when it comes out...if I can afford it...speaking of which, in any of those laptops is it possible to later upgrade the RAM after you buy it? (it'd save me a bunch of money).

---------------------------

Speaking of turrets and at-te's, am I correct to assume that the turrets on the at-te will rotate?

its possible to upgrade ram.. In fact its possibly the easiest upgrade you can do.... next being the processor *excluding all the exterior addons*

The AT-TE's turrets will rotate as much as they do in the movies...

Thats easy, pretty much the same thing with the ARC-170. I'm releasing my own mod soon, and I actually got the ARC-170 rear gun to fire. It's pretty cool. biggrin.gif

once agian sry for the gravedigging but, but the LAAT/c is the ONLY way to transport AT-TEs besies direct deployment from an Acclamator.

OK ure aware that ure breaking the rules but still u do it. Ure apologize doesnt help the post is still there. And noone in this community that have been around just as long this topic remembers it
sharp toast
If there is a laat/c in game then maybe it should be a bonus for the republic-ie it can land it anywhere on revealed territory not just reinforcement points but its quite fragile and can easily be shot down or something like that.
Venator
Land everywhere, besides reinforcement points ? That would be unbalanced, actually...
Though I agree that a LAAT is a pretty easy target in the air.

Actually GG I think it wasn't gravedigging since it contributed to the conversation in my opinion. BTW will the LAAT/c be used for transporting AT-TEs? I figure that by now they can give us a solid answer.
P.S. I have to agree with Starsus.

Seriously GG.... he isn't breaking any forum law here... he contributed to a thread on something, regardless how old, hasn't been address to or about... He isn't doing a one liner that would cause him to get in trouble.
Venator
GG can always benefit from being more liberal.
