I thought modifying the engine (no matter what game) was illegal unless stated in the copyright. I could be wrong, but I know of mods for other games that can't do some things because it would change the engine, and they would be in deep trouble if they did.

I do know one thing. With the plans that IA2 has and the models already done, one of the first things to do is test run a model in game, then before the mod even starts is to rearrange the existing two sides as some of the ep2/3 units are already in game, and need to be replaced to make them independant sides away from the ep2/3 aspects. If you do that last then you may encounter a few "problematic areas".

So what about scaling between infantry and vehicles? I think infantry should be selectable (and build as) squads of about 5 soldiers and scaled down to be able to acually fit in vehicles.

I think thats something thats not currently viable to add to the original game. let alone this project. However, in my own experience, never rule anything out as its been proven time and again that modders have been known to make the supposed impossible things happen.

Are you guys going to add any additional superweapons? Like the Galaxy gun, or the world devestator would be cool, and you have got to add the clone comandos to the infantry list. Could you hire bounty hunters like mercinaries?

I'd like to say first of all I LOVE waht i see so far, EXCELENT jobs.. I'm sure many more things will come along before the game is actually released which i also look forward to. I was wondering if you were planning on adding new heros to the game. I don't really like games that are centric on heros, but juding by how many heros are in the original game, there can be many and the game still doesnt focus on them.
anyway on to my suggestion. if there is a version of luke in the game im assuming its episode IV - V luke. my suggested heros would be as follows (obviously not limited to, i hope you guys come up with some surprises)
Seperatists:
Darth Maul (I know he doesnt fit but theres no other faction to put him in)
Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus
Jango Fett
Grevious
Anakin Skywalker (Episode III, maybe the cloak to differentiate between "light side Anakin")
Republic:
Obi-Wan-Kenobi (Episode II-III)
Anakin Skywalker (Episode III)
Yoda (Episode II-III)
Mace Windu (Episode III)
These ones are stretches:
Qui-Gon-Jin (See Maul)
Obi-Wan-Kenobi (Episode I, same as jinn and maul)
Queen Amidala (Episode II)
Anakin Skywalker (Episode II, with dual sabers or theres no point)
Darth Sidious/Emperor (Episode III, with saber)
Chancellor Palpatine (Windu fight, I know THIS is a BIG stretch)
Alliance:
Luke Skywalker (Episode IV-V, if hes not in)
Luke Skywalker (Episode VI, if hes not in)
Leia, Han, and Chewy (But I think they are all in)
Yoda (Episode V)
Empire:
Emperor (Episode VI)
Boba Fett (If hes not in)
Okay I'm pretty sure many of these will be frowned upon because many players are against having Jedi's in the game at all. The reason I hope for all these to be added is because to me this the greatest Star Wars game experience i've encountered in a game, and I don't want to leave these Important Characters out. I mean c'mon they add in characters like Mara Jade who, if im not mistaken and i very well could be, is part of only the EU universe. If they do that, how can you leave out the main characters?
I hope you take the time to read my suggestion and if you could just tell me outright if this is never gonna happen, cuz well, your the ones to ask. lol
and as a side question. since you've added the jedi as basic units in the game, do they have some kind of blaster bolt deflect and/or deflect back incorporated in? Id hate to see every Jedi be killed before they ever get into saber range, they should at least deflect 3 to 5 shots before being killed.
PHEW again im sorry but im trying to be constructive.

No need to worry. You're being very constructive. I am assuming that most of those OT characters are already in. Yoda will probably have to be added.
As for the Jedi... it's still a dunno. I'm assuming it is possible in the engine, but as far as I've read and seen, I've seen no evidence of it.

okay thats good to hear, all hope is not lost. those hero characters are what i really hope for. qui-gon is so underrated, hes never in anything grrrrr.
not that i know anything about programming, but judging from the fact that your description of the droidekas includes a sheild system. couldn't you just give the jedis an "invisible shield" as the jedis hold the lightsabers up the blast is either absorbed or deflected (i dont know how the sheild system actually works)
and again if you even considered my idea id be very grateful. i know one person's opinion doesnt mean much in the making of this mod, but i highly doubt im the ONLY person in the world that'd wanna see those heros in the game.

Personally, i think there should be Republic heroes Ki-Adi-Mundi, Plo Koon, and Kit Fisto too. They're pretty important jedi, particullarly Ki-Adi-Mundi.
Also, will there be planets from Revenge of the Sith too? I.E. Felucia, Cato Nemoidia, Utapau, Mustafar, Mygeeto, and Saluecami. Some of those are pretty complex but look great in the movie.

I'd assume hero Jedi would be included. Also, I believe it was confirmed that there is a world building program that allows you to create maps and import them. So if a planet isn't included, you could probably try your hand at making it yourself.

i think the mod team should put a picture of a unit next to it in the unit list until they can skin it. That way people would know what it looks like. That way any unit could be "rendered" even if the mod team hasn't finished it yet. That would help make the site look more complete, or something like that

I agree it would be cool to see renders of all those listed units but thats proably something that would take a while. I'd rather you guys keep up your diligent work on other parts of the mod and the just post up the renders when your ready. probably gonna be closer to the actual release of the mod but it will be worth the wait.
Also, about what i said earlier about that way the jedi block or deflect blast bolts. I'm curious as to whether or not vader and obi-wan do it in the original game. does anyone know? I think it would be awful if all the Jedi units have to charge the blaster armed troops and have half of them killed by the time they attack. I think it would be equally dumb if people like obi wan and vader just take a million shots before going down rather than being bale to deflect.
That being said I'm still in love with all those jedi heros from the prequel movies. And i liked someones Idea for plo koon and ki mundi adi as well. reminds me of Jedi Power battles. coolest jedi game to date, except they messed up the saber colors. (i was brave to give a light side jedi a red saber for once with adi gallia, but it really dint work out, give her another color.)
I'm gonna have to hold out from these boards for a month or so, I'm WAY to hyped for this game and expecially these mods already. Man, keep up the good work.

If possible and convenient, I agree with dumhuman. If a picture could be avaliable next to some of the lesser-known things (like the Pinnacle and NTB bomber) that would be helpful. But like randomguy said, the real work is more important, but if you could we members would appreciate it.

you guys shouldn't like spend hours finding pictures, but since the game itself isn't released yet I thought you guys might like something to do (I know nothing about modding games, for all I know you guys loose sleep making the weekly updates). If you could at least add a link for a not well know unit, that would help

Now If you want vehicles, here are some suggestions: For the Republic, there are a few you missed: first, the AT-AP, that three legged thing you saw on Kashhyykk: It's basically a tri-pedal version of the At-TE. Next, there's the AT-RT- Open cockpit is, I'll admit, hazardous, but the thing itself is faster than an AT-ST, plus it has decent firepower and a mortar launcher. These things appear in squads of 4 or more, no solitary. Next is the all-powerful Juggernaut, that thing you see coming down the beachhead on Kashhyykk, firing missles. These are basically the AT-AT's of their time, but faster, different ordance, and dual cockpits. Next- up, the AT-OT, seen on Felucia. they are built for jungle and swamp terrain, with special pads so it doesn't sink, an open cargo hold capable of holding more troops than an AT-TE, despite similarities in appearance, and composite beam weapons up front. Basically an AT-TE built for swamp and jungle warfare.
For the Confederacy, there's 2 more fighters you need to add: General Grievous's personal starfighter, as a sort of hero fighter, and the Mankvim interceptors seen on Utapau. All these would make excellent additions to this mod. I hope you add them in!

Please check the unit lists under the Factions heading on the sidebar. The AT-OT was decided to not be included in skirmish, but should be available in certain campaign missions.

Woops! I didn't defragment, it works now! So AT-OT is only for certain missions,huh? I take it those are on swamp or jungle planets? Oh ya, what planets and heroes from the Clone Wars are you going to add? I know that there's going to be a crapload of jedi to use, but what about the seps? Besides Dooku, Sidious, and Grievous, I'd say you should add Asajj Ventress, Durge, and maybe Sevvrance Tann. Also, are you going to add the fighters I suggested earlier, + Ventress' fighter? Furthermore, are you going to add native craft, such as the Oevvaor Wookie Catamaran? If so, that would be cool... More Ideas will be posted later...

How would you really use the catamaran effectively against seperatist forces? I would also pass on Sevrance-she's kinda psycho. Grievous is the coolest Seperatist. This is an example of the Edit button in progress, Crave! Heeheehee.

The catamaran could be used as a transport, or it could be modified with cannons or something. lets not forget about their adaptati0on of the gunship, the flitter wing. watch the movie or look at cross-section book to find that one. Furthermore what are you going to do about underwater battles? There were plenty of those during the wars... Also, what are you going to do about voices?

Nahhh... Those things are really fast, plus that hardwood can repel a decent amount of blaster fire ... Also, are you guys going to make sure that all these worlds from the Clone Wars look accurate? For example, Felucia and it's bizarre and translucent flora and fauna? For the wildlife, There would be a swarm of Acklays that were "accidentally" shipped there, a grub-worm creature that was used by the clones as a mount, and a carnivorous jellyfish creature. I just hope you guys get it right...

Whoa, sweet, there are acklays on Felucia? Ya those little worm things are kinda cool and could be a free alternative to BARCs as recon units. I hope most of the new RotS worlds like Cato Nemoidia, Mygeeto, and Saleucami are in there, because they look to make good fighting grounds.

And we've locked Nick in his room and told him to model everything. We took his modem away so he can't be distracted by the internet and slip food through a little hole in the door. He's happily modelling and we're happily drooling over said models.
In all seriousness, Nick isn't the only one here who can mod a game. Many guys on the team are very capable of modding the game in different ways. Whether it be config, modelling, texturing, coding, etc.
