Will the spha-t main gun be a lobber like the medium version ingame, or a line of sight beam weapon like in the movies?

Well, the SPMA in EaW isnt the SPHA, so i would imagine it would be like the movies

Jun 19 2006, 04:16 PM
Ooh, Line of Sight I hope...

Jun 19 2006, 04:28 PM
would be lame if it was a lob shot, that was one of the coolest bits of the battle of geonosis, the SPHA-Ts shooting down the core ship things, that and the hailfire droids
ASB
Jun 19 2006, 04:38 PM
Oh yeah, and think of the power...one shot kill on a Hailfire.

It would look good if the SPHA-T fired a beam, but for the sake of gameplay I would like the SPHA-T to lob a bolt. That way it will be able to attack more targets, one of the advantages of artillery is that it can destroy units that aren't directly visible. I would hate to have to move an SPHA-T round some trees or round a hill to attack a target.

i vote for direct artillery weapon

Hopefully we can get it to work as line-of-sight with a very long range.

indeed i would very much like that also u should have different power settings... so that if u need to atke a mtt in 1 shot u could but the recharge time would be insane
Captain Admirison
Jun 19 2006, 09:07 PM
It's probably going to be pretty powerful anyway. We'll see about variable power settings, though. Maybe.

Maybe both, have it as a constant fire beam weapon that arcs.

maybe it would be ideal to have an ability to switch between firing modes (like locking/unlocking S-foils on X-Wings)
but this is what the databank has to say:
QUOTE
The vehicle's central cannon is modular, allowing different artillery units to be fitted with different weapon types, such as ion cannons, anti-vehicle laser cannons or concussion missile launchers
and for the turbolaser
QUOTE
The turbolaser assembly was designed first, and it being the most power-intensive, dictated the design specifications of the walker carriage assembly. The prolonged blast stream of this turbolaser design...

My vote is I DON'T CARE. As long as there is a arterilly peice i will own ALL. (Computers that is). I one time won a battle just by using arterilly. Also CHANGE THE WEAPONS TOO. There ARE 20 anti-personal lasers not two.

Lets hope there won't be a hill in the way.
As the UT-AT is going to be a light artillery unit, will the UT-AT be able to fire its main cannon in an arc like the SPMA-T?
Captain Admirison
Jun 20 2006, 08:23 PM
The UT-AT will be a campaign-only unit. The AT-AP will most likely have an arc, as its artillery weapon is a projectile cannon.

yup, the SPHA-T, SPHA-I, SPHA-V, and SPHA-C (turbolaser, ion cannon, anti-vehicle, concussion missle launchers in that order)

Why would the AT-AP have an arcing weapon? I get the whole gameplay > realism thing, but if you look at the AT-AP it's assault weapon is fixed within the structure.

Yes, but the command pod (head) of the walker in which that weapon is fixed can tilt.
We'll see how it is to impliment.

That sounds good. As long as the Republic will have some sort of arc firing weapon, I'll be happy.

How about paying attention to previous posts?
It was already said that the SPHA would (hopefully) be a line-of-sight weapon.
